Call for nominations and applications: Inspiring Science and Innovating Science Awards

May 17, 2018

As part of an effort to support gender equity and showcase the work of women researchers, Nature Research has lauched two new awards: Inspiring Science and Innovating Science.

Inspiring Science Award

The Inspiring Science Award celebrates an outstanding early career researcher who self-identifies as a woman and has made an exceptional contribution to scientific discovery and the literature, and exhibits the potential for developing and leading an independent research group. “Woman” is defined inclusively, and nominations of trans-women, genderqueer women, and non-binary people who significantly identify as a woman are welcome.

Candidates for the Inspiring Science Award should be nominated. To facilitate and strengthen UBC nominations, we have convened an internal adjudication committee. The committee will accept and evaluate submissions, identify three UBC women researchers or academics, and submit those on behalf of the University to Nature Research. Candidates should be nominated by a Dean, Department Head, or a Director.

This is wonderful opportunity to recognize and celebrate the leadership and research talent of UBC's women faculty members and we urge you to work with your team to put forward representative nominations. Deadline to submit nominations is May 18th.

Innovating Science Award

The Innovating Science Award is open to everyone who works on projects or initiatives that encourage girls or young women to become more aware of, or engaged in, any STEM subject in any region around the world. We encourage relevant faculty to apply directly to Nature Research.
