Following the launch of UBC’s new strategic plan: Shaping UBC’s Next Century, the Office of the Vice-Provost, International has recently embarked on a process to develop an International Strategy for UBC.
As North America’s most international university (Times Higher Education, 2018), there is much to celebrate in the way of our global engagement. The breadth of international programming, expertise, and linkages on our campuses is inspiring. However, we need a coherent International Strategy to tie this all together and extend UBC’s contribution through knowledge and experiences that deepen global understanding.
An International Strategy will provide guiding values and principles to assist in decision-making related to our international activities, outline focused actions, and articulate resource and asset deployment.
I encourage you to join the discussion and help shape UBC’s strategy for global engagement. There are several opportunities to get involved, starting with a series of workshops at the Vancouver campus:

A parallel consultation process with the UBC Okanagan community is being developed and further communication will be shared in the coming weeks.
