Inviting proposals for the 2022 Continuous Learning Advancement Fund

March 03, 2022

The Continuous Learning Advancement Fund (CLAF) supports the creation, renewal and expansion of non-degree learning opportunities at UBC Vancouver. Initially launched in 2019 as the Online Learning Advancement Fund, CLAF’s renewed focus is on growing UBC Vancouver’s capacity to serve continuous learners in British Columbia.

In the wake of the economic disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the BC Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training is prioritizing the development of programming that meets the needs of British Columbians seeking to re-skill or up-skill for employment opportunities in high-demand sectors. UBC is in a unique position to expand its academic programming to audiences beyond degree-seeking students, and diversify the ways it impacts BC's economic recovery and growth.

The Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, UBC Vancouver, has committed $600,000 in funding for the 2022/23 CLAF cycle, which will support the creation, renewal and expansion of non-degree learning opportunities. Preference will be given to proposals for fully online, non-degree programs serving continuous learners seeking to change or advance their careers.

Consultations for interested faculty at UBC Vancouver are available between March 1 and April 19. To schedule a virtual consultation with the CLAF team, email claf.admin@ubc.ca.

Key dates:

  • Letter of Intent submissions due May 10
  • Full project proposals due July 27
  • Funding will be released to successful proposals by the end of September
