Search for Academic Director, Community Health & Wellbeing Cloud Innovation Centre (CIC)
UBC is embarking on a search for a new Academic Director, Community Health and Wellbeing Cloud Innovation Centre (CIC). Tenured UBC Vancouver faculty members are invited to apply for the position by August 31, 2019.
The UBC Community Health and Wellbeing CIC is a public-private collaboration between UBC and Amazon Web Services, Inc. and will be located on the Vancouver campus. The first of its kind in Canada, the UBC CIC will provide students, faculty and staff with access to cloud technology, while employing Amazon’s innovation processes, to tackle real-world issues and challenges relating to community health and wellbeing.
The successful applicant will be the academic lead and champion for the UBC CIC. They will be responsible for advancing innovation methodology, building and developing relationships with community partners, government and UBC challenge proposers, and for ensuring that outcomes from the UBC CIC advance the university’s teaching and learning goals.
The position is expected to start in early 2020, and will work closely with and report to Simon Bates, Associate-Provost, Teaching and Learning. This will be a majority-time appointment for an initial period of three years.
