The University will be undertaking a search for a Deputy Provost, per UBC Policy AP12, Academic Administrators Appointment Policy.

The Deputy Provost is responsible for a strategic and impactful portfolio, including oversight of academic affairs and relations as well as offices and initiatives related to academic strategy and policy. Duties will include oversight of the recruitment, appointment, and extension of senior academic and non-academic leadership roles and the approval of appointments for department heads and associate deans. The incumbent in this position will also lead key projects and will work with the Board, Senates, and Executive team as needed.

Reporting to the UBC Vancouver Provost and Vice-President Academic, the Deputy Provost will have: outstanding academic credentials, including holding the rank of Professor or Professor of Teaching at UBC; proven leadership ability and administrative experience; a strong commitment to excellence in research, teaching and service; a passion for supporting and motivating research, teaching and learning; and a dedication to addressing reconciliation in Canada and at UBC.

This position is internal to the University and is a full-time appointment. The appointment is for a five-year term and is eligible for an extension of appointment for a second term.

The expected salary range for this position is $260,000-$305,000.
