UBC is home to more than 12,000 international undergraduate and graduate students. Through our many international partnerships, we also provide hundreds of opportunities for the two-way exchange of students between UBC and partner universities.
Student Mobility + Exchanges
We welcome students from more than 200 partner universities and institutions on exchanges managed through our Go Global program.
Vancouver Summer Program
The Vancouver Summer Program is a four week academic program offered twice yearly to cohorts of students from partner universities to study at UBC.
The program provides the opportunity for cooperating universities to organize groups of students to take two academic courses in various UBC faculties while learning about Canadian practices and culture.
Visiting international research Students (VIRS)
UBC hosts a number of visiting international research students each year.
International students can also get a taste of what life at UBC as a graduate student looks like through a Mitacs Globalink placement.
go global international learning programs
Partnered with over 200 universities and institutions worldwide, Go Global programs help students venture out into the world to meet people, build skills and gain international perspectives on their learning. Go Global administers the university-wide Safety Abroad Policy (Policy 69) and facilitates international learning through the following programs:
Joint Undergraduate degrees
The University of British Columbia and Sciences Po (l’Institut d’études politiques de Paris) offer a four-year Dual Degree program to both international and domestic students.
Joint PhD program or Co-tutelle
UBC invites outstanding doctoral students to apply to undertake PhD study at UBC in collaboration with another international university. At UBC, this is called a "Joint PhD".
