Periodic external review of the Peter A. Allard School of Law

September 15, 2025

External reviews are conducted periodically to ensure that UBC’s Faculties and administrative units are supporting the university’s academic mission. In October 2025, the Peter A. Allard School of Law will undergo an external review as part of this process.

The external review allows the opportunity for faculty and staff to submit comments, and includes interviews with key stakeholders conducted by visiting reviewers. You can access the terms of reference at https://academic.ubc.ca/sites/default/files/2025-06/TOR-Allard-Law-External-Review-2025.pdf.

The reviewers will visit the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC Vancouver on October 6-8, 2025. They are:

  • Professor Mary Condon, Professor and former Dean, Osgoode Hall Law School, York University
  • Professor Michael Marin, Associate Professor and Dean, Faculty of Law, University of New Brunswick
  • Professor Sarah Harding, Professor and Dean, Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University

The review team will meet with senior administrators, faculty members, staff, students, members of professional associations, and other individuals and groups that interact with the School and the Office of the Dean. Their findings will be of value to the senior administration, the Peter A. Allard School of Law, and the university community as a whole.

UBC faculty and staff are invited to provide written comments relevant to the matters under review to Dr. Herbert Rosengarten, the review coordinator, at hjr@exchange.ubc.ca, by Thursday, October 2, 2025. Please include your name and affiliation to UBC. Your comments will be held in strict confidence and will be forwarded to the reviewers.

Thank you in advance for engaging in this process.

Gage Averill
Provost and Vice-President, Academic, UBC Vancouver
