The Office of the Provost regularly communicates with UBC faculty, staff and students about the university’s fiscal situation and budget status.
Working with the Vice President, Finance and Operations, the Provost provides timely updates giving an overview of budget progress to date, as well as future considerations.
2017/18 Budget Update, April 13, 2017
Following today’s budget presentation to the Board of Governors, we would like to provide an update on the status of the UBC budget.
We are very pleased to announce that the Board of Governors have approved the UBC Budget for the 2017/18 fiscal year.
We are grateful for the Board’s support of UBC’s academic and operational priorities, and for their endorsement of our recommendations around the allocation of the UBC Excellence Fund. Incremental revenues this year will enable UBC to make important investments across the university in a number of areas, including: recruiting exceptional faculty and students; expanding experiential learning opportunities; supporting research clusters; innovation; renewal of critical IT systems; the UBC Library; and infrastructure including classroom upgrades.
