The federal government recently announced significant investments in the Canada Research Chairs Program, including a new investment of $210-million over the next five years that will add 285 new chairs across the country. UBC’s application for 23 new and renewed Chairs was successful, bringing the university’s total number of active chairholders to 162.
The Tri-Agency is initiating changes to simplify and streamline the administration and use of SSHRC, CIHR and NSERC grant funds. UBC is part of the pilot phase of this initiative known as “Renewal of the Tri-Agency Financial Administration” that is scheduled to begin on November 1, 2018.

The Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (TLEF) projects for 2017-2018 have been announced. Fifteen large projects (above $50,000) have been funded, and 49 small projects (less than $50,000) received funding.
