Extension of the appointment of Dr. Susan Parker, University Librarian
I am pleased to announce that the Board of Governors has approved the extension of appointment of Dr. Susan Parker as University Librarian for a second five-year term, until August 2027.
Early in her first term, Dr. Parker led the development of a strategic framework to guide the Library in its priority- and goal-setting activities. With her leadership, the UBC Library has achieved a number of significant successes, including the continued delivery of services throughout the pandemic, the deployment of new software tools, and the enhancement of the Library’s special collections, such as the acquisitions of a Shakespeare First Folio and the Phil Lind Klondike Gold Rush Collection.
I would like to thank the President's Advisory Committee and all who participated in the consultation during the process for consideration of the extension of Dr. Parker's appointment.
I am confident that with Dr. Parker's leadership, the UBC Library will continue to build on its successes and expand its influence in the creation, stewardship, exploration and discovery of knowledge. I look forward to working with her in her second term.
