Extension of appointment of Dr. Pamela Ratner, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning

June 28, 2021

A message from Andrew J. Szeri, Provost and Vice-President, Academic, UBC Vancouver

I am pleased to announce that the Board of Governors has approved the extension of appointment of Dr. Pamela Ratner as Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning at UBC Vancouver for a second five-year term, commencing July 1, 2021.

As Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning, Dr. Ratner is responsible for the academic leadership of enrolment planning and management, stewardship of existing and new academic space and capital projects, and has a role in the university budget planning.

Dr. Ratner will continue to bring her strengths and expertise to the role for the benefit of all students, faculty, and staff. During her first term, she made significant contributions to the establishment of the Academic Capital Fund, which has made it possible for the university to move forward on much needed capital investments for academic facilities. She has been a key member of UBC’s Budget Working Group for the last six years, and along with the Executive Director, Safety and Risk Services, she continues to be at the forefront of UBC’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I would like to thank the President’s Advisory Committee and all who participated in the process for consideration of the extension of Dr. Ratner’s appointment.

I am grateful to Dr. Ratner for her willingness to continue in this crucial leadership role, and look forward to working with her in her second term as she continues to focus on strategic issues with calm efficiency, and a deliberative and consultative decision-making approach.
