Vice-Provost Health

June 17, 2015

UBC Board of Governors approved the extension of appointment of Dr. Gavin Stuart as Vice-Provost Health – UBC Vancouver.  The Vice-Provost Health will play a significant role in the Provincial discourse and action around an academic health science network in BC.  Renewed commitment to the role of Vice-Provost Health is timely and critical to the future success of all health professions and health academic units at the University.

As noted in earlier correspondence, it is anticipated that the Vice-Provost Health will play a significant role in the Provincial discourse and action around an academic health science network in BC.

In addition, the renewed commitment to the role of Vice-Provost Health, together with the creation of UBC Health, is timely and critical to the future success of all health professions and health academic units at the University.  UBC Health formalizes an integrated and streamlined governance mechanism for University health programs to agree and be held accountable for the achievement of common goals, while respecting the distinct disciplines and preserving unit autonomy.  The Vice-Provost Health has overall responsibility to ensure that these objectives are achieved, facilitating and overseeing internal collaboration.

We look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Stuart during these exciting times of renewal in supporting health.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the President’s Advisory Committee for their time and commitment, and for its deliberations that culminated in the unanimous recommendation to the President that the appointment of Dr. Gavin Stuart be extended.
