Consideration of the extension of appointment of Dr. Pamela Ratner, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning

A President’s Advisory Committee (see membership below) has been established with a mandate to advise the President on the extension of appointment for the Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning. The Advisory Committee may also advise the President on matters of future priorities for the unit. This extension of appointment is being conducted in accordance with the procedures described in UBC Board of Governors Policy AP6.
The Advisory Committee is conducting a consultative process and is seeking your feedback directly related to Dr. Pamela Ratner’s leadership over the past five years with respect to the priorities of the role. The Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning is responsible for all aspects of enrolment management, domestic and international; space and facilities planning, and capital projects; and participates in the University budgeting process. Key areas of responsibility include:
- participation in analysis and strategic planning and budgeting in the Provost’s Office;
- close coordination and interaction with the Deans, Vice-Presidents, Associate Vice-Presidents and others across, and external to, the University;
- academic leadership of enrolment planning and management (both domestic and international);
- stewardship of all existing and new academic space, and capital projects, belonging to UBC;
- oversight of units that report to the Provost, including Enrolment Services, International Student Initiative, Enrolment Services and UBC Vantage College;
- representation in a variety of academic committees such as the Senate Library Committee, Senate Admissions Committee, Senate Academic Building Needs Committee, and Great Northern Way Campus Academic Committee;
- representing the Provost in Student Information Systems (SIS) governance

Comments should be sent in confidence by email c/o Jackie Hallet in the Provost’s Office: jackie.hallet@ubc.ca. Anonymous comments will not be considered. However, all comments from the UBC community will be considered in strict confidence by the Chair and Secretary of the Advisory Committee. Any information that could reveal the identity of the sender will be redacted before letters are shared with the Advisory Committee.
