Search for a new Academic Director, UBC Vantage College

Applications are invited from tenured faculty for the position of Academic Director, UBC Vantage College. The deadline for applications is November 4, 2019

Reporting to the Principal of the college, this full-time position has an initial, renewable appointment of three years. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2020. 

Vantage College is a Senate-approved unit currently offering an enriched first-year experience for international students admitted to Arts, Engineering and Science programs. Those enrolled in the Vantage One program experience an innovative first-year curriculum that includes embedded academic English instruction. 

The Academic Director provides academic leadership, planning and implementation oversight for the Vantage One program. They are responsible for overseeing all curriculum development and renewal of existing program streams with a view to continuous improvements. The Academic Director also works with UBC’s departments and Faculties to identify and appoint faculty members to teach in the college; represents the college on campus-wide and Senate committees related to curriculum, academic requirements and academic policy; and interacts and consults regularly with the Director of the Academic English Program, Program chairs, and staff. In addition, the successful candidate has the capacity to teach in the Vantage One program.
