The Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, leads several committees that bring together diverse members of the UBC community in a collaborative process to implement our academic strategy.

Indigenous Strategic Plan Implementation Committee

The Standing Committee on the Indigenous Strategic Plan Implementation consists of faculty and staff who are knowledgeable about Indigenous issues and programs, students,community members, and senior administrators. It oversees the various initiatives related to the roll-out of the plan centrally and across UBC’s faculties and units, and advises the Provost on progress.

Associate Deans Academic & Associate Deans Students

The Associate Deans Academic & Associate Deans Students group is comprised of Associate Deans, student representatives and senior administrators. It meets monthly to discuss a variety of academic issues and topics as they arise, as well as ongoing initiatives such as student evaluation of teaching, academic integrity, learning technology development, and teaching innovation.

Associate Deans Faculty

This committee serves as a forum to discuss topics that are of concern and interest to Associate Deans whose portfolios oversee Faculty matters, such as recruitment, retention, promotion and tenure, professional development, housing, equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigenous engagement and others.

Committee of Deans

Faculty Deans and other senior academic leaders meet regularly as the Committee of Deans. Under the leadership of the Provost and Vice-President Academic, the Committee meets to discuss academic strategy, resources and other issues of institutional significance.

Enrolment Executive Committee

The Enrolment Executive Committee consists of the Vice-Provost and AVP Enrolment and Academic Facilities, Associate Deans, the Director of the School of Kinesiology, the Principal of Vantage College, and senior administrators. It facilitates cooperation and coordinated efforts among faculties and schools with direct-entry undergraduate programs and Vantage College. The Committee aims to provide an outstanding learning environment for students by collaborating on enrolment planning and targets, recruitment strategies for international and domestic undergraduate students, and admissions policies.

Information Technology Advisory Council

The Information Technology Advisory Council (ITAC) provides advice to the UBC Executive and Board of Governors related to maximizing the benefits from investment in Information Technology at UBC.

The council membership includes as well as senior faculty and executive, including the Provost, as well as members of the community.

Learning Spaces Advisory Committee

The Learning Spaces Advisory Committee is comprised of the Associate Deans of each of the Faculties and senior staff. It advises how UBC can optimize learning spaces to incorporate flexible learning practices and deliver the best possible student experience.

Property and Planning Advisory Committee

The Property and Planning Advisory Committee is comprised of members of the Senate Academic Building Needs Committee, Faculty Deans, Principals of Colleges, senior administrators and student representatives. Non-voting members include representatives of administrative units, affiliated theological colleges and UBC Properties Trust. The Committee advises the Provost and the Vice-President Finance on building programming, guidelines, space utilization and standards, physical planning, and infrastructure.

University Art Committee

The University Art Committee is comprised of the Director of the Belkin Gallery, the Associate Vice-President, Campus and Community Planning, faculty members, staff, a student representative, and community members. The Committee advises the Provost on all matters relating to UBC’s art collection.
