February 12, 2019

The Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic is pleased to announce the Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (TLEF) projects for 2018-19. $2.1-million of TLEF funding will support 10 Large TLEF Transformation projects and 57 Small TLEF Innovation projects in the coming year. 104 applications were received.

The TLEF is funded through a portion of student tuition and aims to enrich student learning by supporting innovative educational enhancements. Since its inception in 1991, it has funded more than 1,000 teaching and learning projects.

$1.2-million of the awarded TLEF funding will be used to hire up to 238 UBC students to work on project teams. Students will support the development, implementation and evaluation of TLEF projects in the following roles: Teaching Assistants, Graduate/Undergraduate Research or Academic Assistants, Co-op and Work Learn students.

In addition, 10 projects have been funded as part of this year’s special strategic call for Undergraduate Program Evaluation and Renewal projects with $1.8-million funding support from the UBC Excellence Fund and the Provost’s Office.

In addition, in alignment with Strategy #12: Program Redesign of UBC’s new strategic plan, 10 projects have been funded as part of this year’s special call for Undergraduate Program Evaluation and Renewal projects, with $1.8-million in support coming from strategic plan funding and the UBC Excellence Fund.
