External Review of the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC

October 1, 2019

A message from Andrew Szeri, Provost and Vice-President, Academic, UBC Vancouver

I am arranging for an external review of the Peter A. Allard School of Law, as is customary at regular intervals.  The terms of reference for the review can be found here

The members of the review team are:

  • Professor Kim Brooks, Purdy Crawford Chair in Business Law, Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University
  • Dr. Edward Iacobucci, Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Toronto
  • Professor Robert Leckey, Dean, Faculty of  Law, McGill University

The review team will visit UBC November 21 and 22, 2019.  Meetings will be held with faculty members, students, staff, senior administrators, members of the legal profession, and other individuals and groups that may interact with the School. Before the reviewers arrive on campus, they will receive documentation on all aspects of the School’s operation, including the quality of its teaching and research, its facilities and resources, its administrative structure and organization, and its internal and external linkages. The reviewers’ findings, in the form of a report to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, will be of value to the senior administration, the School, and the University community as a whole.

I invite and encourage all members of the Allard School of Law to provide written comments relevant to the matters under review. Please forward your comments to the review coordinator, Dr. Herbert Rosengarten, at hjr@exchange.ubc.caYour comments will be held in strict confidence, and Dr. Rosengarten will arrange for them to be forwarded to the members of the review team. The deadline for receipt of comments is Monday, November 18, 2019.  Please ensure that your comments are identified by name and affiliation.
