Call for Proposals for Open Educational Resource Grants

September 23, 2024

Faculty and staff in Vancouver are invited to submit proposals for grants that support the use of open educational resources (OER) in UBC Vancouver credit courses. OER are freely accessible educational materials that permit open use, modification, and adaptation.

OER Affordability Grants

Grants of up to $25,000 are available for UBC Vancouver faculty who wish to address course material affordability and access, through the incorporation of OER, as required materials into their credit courses. The application deadline is January 16, 2025, at 3pm. You can find more information online

OER Rapid Innovation Grants

Grants of up to $2,000 are available to faculty, staff and students for innovative activities that increase OER use and capacity building at UBC Vancouver. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the funds are exhausted. More details are available on the OER fund website

Since 2019, over $991,000 in OER grant funding has been awarded to 96 projects across 12 Vancouver Faculties or units. Learn more about the fund.

There will be a general information session on October 21, as well as ongoing grant proposal consultation sessions and OER accessibility studios. You can register for these sessions online
