External reviews are conducted periodically to ensure that UBC’s Faculties and administrative units are supporting the University’s academic mission. In October, the Faculty of Applied Science will undergo an external review as part of this process.
The external review allows the opportunity for faculty and staff to submit comments, and includes interviews with key stakeholders conducted by visiting reviewers. You can access the terms of reference here.
The reviewers will meet with members of the Faculty of Applied Science at UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan on October 17-19, 2022. They are:
- Dr. Cristina Amon, Professor and Dean Emerita, Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, University of Toronto;
- Dr. Ishwar Puri, Vice President of Research, University of Southern California;
- Dr. Jean Zu, Dean of the Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering & Science at Stevens Institute of Technology.
The review team will meet with senior administrators, faculty members and staff, students, members of professional associations, and other appropriate individuals and groups that interact with the Faculty and the Office of the Dean. Their findings will be of value to the senior administration, the Faculty of Applied Science, and the University community as a whole.
UBC faculty and staff are also invited to provide written comments relevant to the matters under review to Dr. Herbert Rosengarten, the review coordinator, at hjr@exchange.ubc.ca, by Thursday, October 13, 2022. Please include your name and affiliation to UBC.
