Search for a Deputy Provost at UBC Vancouver

November 30, 2023

UBC Vancouver is embarking on a search for a Deputy Provost.

The Deputy Provost will be responsible for a strategic and impactful portfolio. This is a new title for an existing role, elevating the current Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Academic Affairs, portfolio to allow for more responsibility and delegation by the Provost.

Duties will include oversight of the recruitment, appointment, and extension of senior academic and non-academic leadership roles and the approval of appointments for department heads and associate deans.

The Deputy Provost will also focus on providing strategic leadership and oversight for academic affairs, faculty recruitment and retention, and ongoing faculty relations matters, as well as supporting the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, UBC Vancouver, in the realization of the university’s strategic academic aspirations.

The current Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Academic Affairs, Professor Moura Quayle, will remain as AVP until the end of July 2024.

The Deputy Provost is an exciting new academic leadership opportunity, and all eligible faculty are encouraged to apply. The call for applications will remain open until January 11, 2024, and full details can be found at https://academic.ubc.ca/academic-community/searches/deputy-provost.
