Shape the future of teaching and learning at UBC: CTLT and LTIC seek your input

October 10, 2025

Teaching and learning in higher education are currently undergoing significant change: rapid technological advances are positioning AI as a general-purpose technology, student support needs are becoming more complex, and teaching and assessment practices are evolving. In this context, the Office of the Provost & Vice-President Academic is asking faculty, staff and graduate students who support teaching and learning at the university to provide insight to help us address current and future needs in a number of areas, including evolving pedagogical support needs as well as how UBC uses emerging technologies such as AI.

In July, the Centre for Teaching, Learning & Technology (CTLT) underwent a reorganization that saw the launch of the Learning Technology Innovation Centre (LTIC) as a new stand-alone unit, which serves as a catalyst for innovation in digital pedagogy, providing opportunities for faculty to explore emerging technologies. CTLT continues to focus on leadership and support in teaching and learning scholarship, course and program development, teaching practice development, and the integration of learning technology into teaching and learning practices.

As both units plan for the future, we are reaching out to ask for your feedback on how we should shape the services and tools that will help UBC advance on our core commitments to teaching and learning in support of all of UBC's strategic priorities, including transformative learning and the development and application of emerging technologies.

Please take a few moments to complete the CTLT short survey on evolution of pedagogical and curricular support, and be on the lookout for the LTIC survey on design of services and support in the new unit.

Centre for Teaching, Learning & Technology survey: Open until October 24

The CTLT is interested in your thoughts and ideas as we look ahead to building on our strengths and refreshing our future vision and priorities. We invite you to fill out a short, anonymous survey that will be available until October 24. For more information and to access the survey, click here.

Learning Technology Innovation Centre survey: Coming soon via a banner announcement on Canvas

Learning technology underpins our work as educators and its effectiveness and fit to purpose is vital. To drive the LT ecosystem, LTIC will soon be launching a faculty experience survey through Canvas – it will also be published on the LTIC website. When you see it appear, please do fill it out.

Your feedback is invaluable to us – thank you in advance for your input.
