3M National Teaching Fellowship nominations open for 2023

August 22, 2023

The Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) has opened the nomination process for the 2023 3M National Teaching Fellows. This year’s submission deadline is November 15, 2023

Recognizing that UBC has many faculty members who are worthy of this prestigious recognition, please encourage your faculty colleagues to apply. The award recognizes and rewards faculty members who, in addition to being known for extraordinary and innovative teaching, are also exemplary educational leaders.

Individuals self-nominate for this award, usually coordinated through their home academic unit. The Office of the Provost and VP Academic provides the institutional letter of support for inclusion in the nomination package. Complete nomination packages should be sent to the AVP Teaching & Learning in the Office of the Provost and VP Academic (c/o provost.vptl@ubc.ca) by Friday, October 27.  Following sign-off on the application and the associated completion of the recommendation letter by the Provost, our office will return the package to the Faculty, who must then submit it directly to the competition by the final deadline of November 15.

Aug. 24: Celebrating Teaching Excellence: Preparing an Award Nomination Package

As part of the 2023 CTLT Summer Institute, CTLT is hosting a virtual session on Aug. 24, 1:00-2:30 p.m., on Celebrating Teaching Excellence: Preparing an Award Nomination Package. In that session, a panel of award recipients will speak to the nomination and application process for the 3M National Teaching Fellowships, the D2L Collaborative Innovation Award, the West Coast Excellence Award, and the Killam Teaching Prize. This session is for any faculty interested in putting forward an award nomination under these programs. (Note that the session will be recorded for later viewing, if faculty are not able to attend.)

Thank you very much for your attention to this opportunity to recognize our faculty members for their excellence in and commitment to teaching.
