External Teaching Awards
The Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic maintains a directory of some of the many major external teaching awards available. The following are examples of awards that have been received by UBC faculty members:
The 3M National Teaching Fellowship recognizes exceptional contributions to teaching and learning at Canadian universities. The community of 3M National Teaching Fellows embodies the highest ideals of teaching excellence and scholarship with a commitment to encourage and support the educational experience of every learner.
The nomination process for 2021 will commence in the late spring of 2020. Recognizing that UBC has many faculty members who are most worthy of this prestigious recognition, the Provost Office strongly encourages the nomination of colleagues from Faculties and Schools. All nominees or nominating parties are asked to consult Dr. Simon Bates, who will offer advice on the process and the nomination package, and can assist with preparation of the support letter for the Provost & VP Academic’s signature. Simon can be reached at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Future 3M nominees and nominators are encouraged to visit the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology’s website, for information on 1-1 consultations, sample dossiers and application advice from recent UBC 3M National Teaching Fellows.
Nomination packages should be sent to the Office of the Provost and VP Academic by a deadline in late summer 2020, which will be posted here. Following sign-off by the Provost, our office will return the package to the Faculty who must then submit it directly to the competition (STLHE deadline to be confirmed).
